Google Plans New Privacy Changes Similar to Apple’s

Why we liked this article

  • Google announced its new privacy restrictions, similar to Apple’s, which cut tracking on apps on its Android devices.
  • The company said it is developing a privacy-focused replacement for its advertising ID which usually tracks the consumer’s information – this unique string of characters will identify the user’s device.
  • This is a similar privacy restriction move made by Apple which disrupted advertising practices for big companies which rely on tracking users across apps, such as Facebook parent Meta. Although Meta fought against Apple’s changes, it is in support of Google’s plans to update its privacy restrictions.
