Google have announced the release of a new AI Developers Google Cloud Workspace, which is designed to enable developers to build & deploy AI models quickly and easily.
This announcement comes 13 days after Open AI announced ChatGPT and Whisper models are available via an API. It is fair to say that Google and Microsoft are slugging it out in this exciting space of language model AI.
What is interesting about Google’s approach is that they re-confirm their mission of aiming to be ‘the most open cloud provider’. They want to attract the innovation in AI development into Google Workspace.
The workspace include a range of new AI tools including PaLM API, MakerSuite, Vertex AI, and the Generative AI App Builder.
The PaLM API (Pathways Language Model) is a natural language processing (NLP) tool that will allow developers to create more accurate and efficient language models for tasks such as text classification, summarization, and question-answering. This tool can improve the accuracy and effectiveness of language-based AI applications.
MakerSuite is a prototyping environment for building and deploying machine learning models on Google Cloud. It includes tools for data preparation, training, and deployment, as well as tools for monitoring and managing machine learning models. MakerSuite makes it easier for developers to build and deploy custom machine learning models on the cloud.
Vertex AI is a fully managed platform for building and deploying machine learning models on Google Cloud. It provides a range of tools and services for building, training, and deploying machine learning models, as well as tools for monitoring and managing models. Vertex AI is designed to make it easier for developers to build and deploy machine learning models at scale.
The Generative AI App Builder is a tool that allows developers to create custom generative AI models for tasks such as image synthesis and text generation. This tool is designed to make it easier for developers to create custom generative AI models without the need for extensive machine learning expertise.
In addition to these tools and services, Google also announced that a limited number of trusted testers will be invited to test new AI features in Google Workspace. This is part of Google’s ongoing effort to improve its AI offerings and make it easier for developers to build and deploy AI models on its cloud platform.
Why does this matter?
2023 is definitely the year of AI but with Open AI’s announcement of ChatGPT 4 expected imminently, Google do not appear to be getting the mainstream hype that ChatGPT is getting.
