Google begins rollout of November 2024 Core Algorithm Update

It’s that time of year when Google periodically releases its core updates, to improve its search algorithms.

These core updates are broad and not targeted at specific sites, meaning most websites might not notice significant changes. However, it is always prudent to keep a close eye on your site, especially if you are a content publisher, to check if you are seeing a traffic drop around the time of a core update.

By comparing data from before and after the update, site owners can assess any ranking drops and examine their top pages. The update is expected to take a couple of weeks to complete.

If a site does experience a large drop in position, a detailed self-assessment may be necessary to determine if the content is helpful, reliable, and people-centered.

Quick SEO fixes aren’t recommended; sites should focus on sustainable improvements that enhance user experience. This could mean reorganising content for clarity or, if necessary, removing irrelevant material. Improvement effects may take days to months to reflect in search rankings, and sometimes waiting until the next core update is essential for significant impact.
