Having watched some of the Google IO (streamed live via Youtube today) I was overawed by their progress.
Google.com have today announced that they have had 100 million android activations, supported by an astounding 450,000 developers! 200,000 android apps – with an emphasis on quality, 4.5 billion application installs which is partly such a high number as android based phones do tend to give you a whole bunch of downloaded on day 1.
Honeycomb 3.1 was introduced as an OS upgrade. This allows for better multi tasking, displaying recent tasks in a new way. More widgets & USB hosting – allowing crazy new functionality and importing photos in from digital cameras etc into your smartphone.
The new ice cream sandwich brand for Android was unveiled and is conceptually an ideal for innovation across multiple smartphones and tablet hardware.
Great stuff Google – taking Apple to school in the O/S market.
