Apple has unveiled Apple Sports, a new free app tailored for iPhone users, aiming to provide sports enthusiasts with real-time scores, statistics, and more.
Created with a focus on speed and simplicity, the app offers a personalised experience that places users’ preferred leagues and teams front and centre. Apple Sports features an intuitive interface designed by Apple, making it easy for users to access the information they crave. Currently available in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada via the App Store, Apple Sports promises to keep fans engaged and informed.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, expressed the company’s intent behind the app, “We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats. Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store, and makes it easy for users to stay up to date with their favourite teams and leagues.”
The app covers a range of popular leagues currently in season, including:

Additionally, plans are in place to include more leagues such as MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, and WNBA for their upcoming seasons.
Apple Sports offers users the ability to customise their experience by following their favorite teams, tournaments, and leagues. The app facilitates easy navigation between live scores and upcoming games, providing comprehensive details such as play-by-play information, team statistics, lineup details, and live betting odds.
Why is this important?
iPhone users can now seamlessly transition to the Apple TV app to watch live games from Apple and connected streaming services. The integration extends to the My Sports experience within the Apple TV app and Apple News.
In terms of availability, Apple Sports can be downloaded, for free, in only U.S., the U.K., and Canada, with support for English, French, and Spanish where applicable. Compatibility extends to all iPhone models running iOS 17.2 or later, ensuring accessibility to a broad user base.
Overall, Apple Sports aims to streamline the sports viewing experience for iPhone users, offering a convenient and efficient platform for staying updated on their favorite teams and leagues. With its emphasis on speed, simplicity, and personalisation, the app reflects Apple’s focus on user engagement in sports entertainment.
