Google has unveiled a series of updates to its AI-powered assistant, Gemini, at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, enhancing its functionality, accessibility, and integration with Android devices.
These latest upgrades aim to make Gemini more personalised, versatile, and efficient, particularly for users of the Samsung Galaxy S24, S25, and Pixel 9 devices.
Gemini Live Enhancements
Gemini Live now supports the addition of images, files, and YouTube videos to conversations, enabling more dynamic and natural interactions. This upgrade is aimed at collaboration, organising ideas, or simplifying complex topics. It integrates seamlessly with Android, allowing users to smoothly transition from activities on their phones to discussions with Gemini.
Initially only available on Samsung Galaxy S24, S25, and Pixel 9 devices, these features will soon expand to other Android devices. Additionally, Project Astra capabilities, including screen sharing and live video streaming, will debut on the Gemini app for Android and the Galaxy S25 in the coming months.
Expanded Extension Support
Gemini’s ability to streamline tasks across apps has been further enhanced. Users of Samsung Galaxy S25 phones can now utilise Gemini with Samsung Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock. Moreover, Gemini supports multi-extension prompts, enabling users to complete tasks across multiple apps simultaneously.
For instance, users can request lunch recipes and save them directly to Samsung Notes or Google Keep. This functionality will be available across web, Android, and iOS platforms.
Improved AI Accessibility
Accessing Gemini is now easier than ever on Galaxy S25 devices. Advanced users will also gain access to Deep Research in the Gemini app later this week, offering significant time savings for in-depth research while on the move.
Why is this important?
These latest updates demonstrate that Google is heavily investing in making Gemini a powerful, user-friendly assistant for Android devices, setting the bar high for mobile AI integration.
